Poker is played with a regular deck of 52 playing cards.
The cards values are from high to low:
Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2.
The 4 suits are Clubs: Spades: Hearts: Diamonds:
The suits are all of equal value. No suit is more valuable than another one.
Each player is gets five cards in the deal. You try to end with the highest valued hand.
1 Royal Flush 2
Straight Flush 3
Four of a kind 4
Full House 5
Flush
6 Straight 7
Three of a Kind 8
Two Pair 9
One Pair 10
High Card
Royal Flush
Best hand in poker. Made up of 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace, of the same suit. .
Straight Flush
Made up of five cards in numerical order, all of the same suit.
If there are two Straight Flushes at the table, then whichever hand's
Straight Flush reaches the highest card value wins.
Four of a Kind
Four cards of the same rank and another card. Example 4 Queens and a 3 card
If there are two or more hands of "Four of a Kind" then with the
highest-ranking Four of a Kind wins.
Full House
You have five cards in your hand, and three have the same rank. The other
two cards also have the same numerical rank.
Break a tie with the highest of the 3 of a kind, then the Pair.
Example 3 Queens and 2 Kings beats, three Jacks and 2 Aces
Flush
A Flush is comprised of five cards of the same suit. Rank doesn't matter.
If there is a tie the highest ranking card wins. In the example below,
Straight
Five cards in numerical order, suit does not matter.
If there is a tie, the Straight with the higher card wins.
Three of a Kind
Three cards of the same numerical rank, and two other cards (not a pair).
Two Pair
Two sets of pairs, and some other card.
One Pair
One pair and three other cards. The player with the highest ranking pair wins.
High Card
If none of the players have anything of value, the player holding the highest-valued card wins.
