Bonus
This is an added bonus section right at the beginning of the article. Create Google Authorship and ranking.
I have to thank Google and Lisa Irby for the info on how to do it.
Become an author with a picture at the beginning of your site in a search result
Open a Google+ account and fill it out
In the "About" section look down in the right column for the Links section. Scroll down to the "Contributor to" section (click the Edit button bottom of page) and add links to your web site in the "Contributor to" section.
On your website(s) add a link of your name on each page with this url:
<a href="[profile_url]?rel=author">Roger Chartier</a>
Use it like this replacing [profile_url] with your actual google profile url - see this example:
<a href="https://plus.google.com/100347757065437906710? rel=author">Roger Chartier</a>
Wait a few days for it to get integrated then use Google's Rich Snippet tool to check to see if it works
OR... Use an Email Address for Google Authorship
Make sure that you have your email address on your website.
Add a byline onto each page of the website, such as "by Roger Chartier" or "Author: Roger Chartier".
Visit Google's authorship page ( https://plus.google.com/authorship ), and add your email address to Google (use your own name).
You only need to do this once for a single domain.
You can make you email invisible if you don't want others to see it as long as Google can read it.
1. Submit your site to Google the free search engine.
First though
check to see if your website is already in Google. Go to the google search bar not the browser address bar, and add the entire url address of your website. If it pops up in the browser, you are listed. If you find that your site is listed, you do not need to submit.
How to submit? Go to the search engine and ask "How to submit website to Google"
You can use your email website's software, to automatically add, a url for the website into your signature.
Thanks for taking the time to read all of this as it is a really good overview of the subject of promotion for your website or blog. Good luck in the future. Roger Chartier
